The ScreenBeam display software won't start - it says it can't find a USB Transmitter but the USB Transmitter is plugged in. How can I solve this?

If the ScreenBeam software application cannot detect a USB Transmitter, the application will not start.  The laptop/tablet may have failed to properly start the USB Transmitter driver or the driver may be incorrectly installed/corrupted.

  1. Right-click the ScreenBeam icon in the Windows System Tray and select Exit.  Click OK to confirm.
  2. Remove the USB Transmitter from the USB port on the laptop/tablet.
  3. Connect the USB Transmitter again.  Use a different USB port if one is available.
  4. Attempt to launch the Actiontec ScreenBeam software again.
  5. If the application still fails to launch, ensure that the Actiontec ScreenBeam USB Transmitter is not disabled in the Network Connections section of the Windows Network & Sharing Center.

If the application continues to fail to launch:

  1. Remove the USB Transmitter from the USB port on the laptop/tablet.
  2. Uninstall the Actiontec ScreenBeam wireless display application from the Programs & Features section of the Windows Control Panel.
  3. Restart the laptop/tablet.
  4. Ensure you have the latest version of the Actiontec ScreenBeam application.  You can download the latest version from
  5. Reinstall the ScreenBeam application.  Do not connect the USB Transmitter to the laptop/tablet until instructed by the software setup application.
